All New Ubuntu Linux 11.04, "Natty Narwhal,"

Ubuntu Linux, one of the most popular Linux distributions available today, is out with what may be its most significant set of changes to date. 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" has brought with it not just major version jumps for nearly every core app and service, but also a completely revamped Unity interface.
Love it or hate it, Unity is clearly here to stay. It's been through a major update since 10.10. The interface still does sit atop the GNOME Desktop Environment, though—so things aren't so different once you get past the layout and some basic control maneuvers. It's worth noting, though, that users can select "Ubuntu Classic" from the login screen to switch to a possibly more familiar, more GNOME-like desktop.

Ubuntu 11.04 is also available in several variants, including the KDE-based Kubuntu, lighter-weight Xubuntu, Edubuntu, and more. These derivatives allow users to have all the updated features of the underlying OS while using the interface of their cho…

Scammer Cracks Into Facebook Account And Hits Up Chat List For Cash

Kevin was worried. His friend Mike said over Facebook chat that he and his wife and kids were stranded in London after getting mugged. They needed money wired immediately to settle their hotel bill. This was especially worrisome because Mike was supposed to be recuperating in the hospital from head surgery... Then Kevin realized that someone had cracked his friend's Facebook account and was impersonating him.

iPhone Tracker Maps, Everywhere You've Been With Your iPhone

Oxford to Cambridge and then London from Alasdair Allan on Vimeo.

This video from lifehacker.com is a great example and demonstration of the iPhone Tracker Maps. I am sure many of you iPhone owners will enjoy this one.

Kevin Purdy-The application, made to prove a point of sorts, looks into the automatic backups your device makes every time it's connected to iTunes, then pulls out a lifelong list of your locations, timestamps included. No special tricks are needed, and the data is easy to get to, unless you choose to encrypt your device backups. iPhoneTracker then formats all the data for visualization on a map, which provides a pretty neat look at everywhere you've been.
The data comes from cellular tower triangulation, regardless of whether you have GPS turned on, and whether you've allowed other applications to have access to your location. That's the main concern: very specific location data, collected without asking, available to any person (or app) that knows whe…

Jailbreaking Your iOS Device (iOS 4.3.2) & (iOS 4.3.1) Both Use The Same Process

The video above depicts the jailbreak process for iOS 4.3.1 but it is exactly the same process for iOS 4.3.2. Here are the individual steps:
Connect your iOS device to your computer. It's always good to back it up before jailbreaking (use PKGBackup if you already have a jailbroken device and want a more comprehensive backup) in case something goes wrong, but before you get started with the jailbreak you'll want to quit iTunes.Download redsn0w from the iPhone Dev-Team, download the iOS 4.3.2 IPSW for your specific device, and the update to the latest version of iTunes. It is very important that you download the IPSW file that corresponds to your specific iDevice or this will not work.Open the IPSW file with redsn0w and let redsn0w do it's thing. When it's done it'll ask you to select some options before starting the jailbreak process. You'll have four at the bottom of your screen and you really only need to select the first, which is "Install Cydia." …

Apple Starts Selling Square Credit Card Reader For iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch : Future Payments

According to iphonehacks.com, Apple has started selling Square’s credit card reader for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch on it’s online store and according to TechCrunch will be soon be available in Apple retail stores.

Square is a revolutionary product, which allows individuals and businesses to accept credit card payments. The credit card reader is developed by the start up with the same name, which is co-founded by Jack Dorsey (also the co-founder of Twitter).

I am sure many of us will have many uses for this now as well as in the future. The enhancements of technology is growing rapidly and I love to keep up on them. Technology is one of my biggest fascinations.

Barnes and Noble Nook Color Rooted

I have recently purchased the Nook Color by Barnes and Noble and I am extremely pleased with its performance, not only does it exceed my expectations as a e-book reader, it also acts as a tablet computer. The price around $250 is much lower than many of the other tablets that cost much more. I have android honeycomb 3.0 running on my device, and although it is still in testing stage it does work great. One downfall running honeycomb on the nook color is that the nook color is not a android phone, which many of the features of android honeycomb and the android market place applications are designed for. Below is a link to nook devs where they have soft rooted the nook color and full instruction on how to do so. Below is also a link t o purchase the Nook Color from Amazon.

The video is from tinkernut.com, a very good video blog site with loads of information.

Windows 8

Recently I learned more about the rumored Windows 8. Unlike the other versions of Windows operating systems, Windows 8 is expecting to run from 16gb or larger flash drive. The ability to take your desktop with you anywhere you go is going to be a winner in my opinion for windows 8, that is if it makes it. More information can be found at pcworld.com.
